Introduction:
Solar applications are becoming highly wide spread and imperative too. Their costs are also coming down appreciably. There is a huge need for budding Engineers and Faculty members to gain awareness, have exposure and acquire specialized knowledge in the varied domains of Solar Energy Engineering which is inter-disciplinary in nature.

Objectives and Contents:
This STTP aims to serve the fraternities of Mechanical Engg., Electrical Engg., Electronics Engg. and Physics. Participants can learn the fundamentals of Solar Engg. and understand the principles and working of several solar photovoltaic and solar thermal appliances. Field visits and an exclusive 'Hand-On' training on solar photovoltaic gadgets are special features of this STTP.
STTP Outcome:
Participants shall be able to do solar radiation calculations, carry out designing and enrich their practical knowledge aimed at building a strong base for them to take up innovative research in this fascinating field. With their competency enhanced, faculty members can motivate and guide their students to focus more on Renewable Energy Technologies. Creation of a National talent pool in Green Energy sector is the dire need of the hour for our Country.

Mepco Schlenk Engineering College is situated about 65 km from Madurai, the Temple city. It is situated midway between Virudhunagar and Sivakasi on road and is about 16 km from Virudhunagar and 11 km from Sivakasi. Buses ply between Virudhunagar and Sivakasi via the College bus stop. The nearest railway station is Virudhunagar Junction.
